doctoral program advice

I have a B.A. in Anthropology-Sociology and have decided to pursue a masters/doctorate in cultural anthropology. I was wondering which is more important: to find a professor to study under who specifically shares my academic interests (but who may not teach at a great school) or to apply to the top cultural anthropology programs?

I'm interested in anthropology of sound (not ethnomusicology, however), sociology of architecture and environmental anthropology. I could also see myself as a 'general' cultural anthropologist conducting fieldwork in Southeast Asia (particularly, Thailand) or the Himalayas. Given the latter, I believe I should only apply to schools that have Southeast Asian Centers and offer related language courses.

Any advice and/or reading recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
